Reiki

REIKI (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that in turn promotes healing. Discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui at the turn of the 20th century it involves the “laying on of hands”.

The Japanese words Rei and Ki mean ‘Universal Life Energy’. This energy flows within the body and when disrupted, by physical or emotional trauma and stress, weakens the functions of the body. A Reiki treatment can dissolve blockages restoring the smooth flow of Ki throughout the body.

As a Reiki Master Practitioner, I act as a conduit to allow universal energy to be channelled through my hands to where it is needed. I place my hands in a series of non-intrusive positions on the body or in the auric field staying at each position for several minutes.

A simple, yet very powerful technique, which can be learned by anyone, Reiki is activated by intention and works on every level promoting the body’s regenerative self healing ability.

What can I expect during a Reiki treatment?

A treatment usually lasts an hour and is conducted while lying fully clothed with head and knees supported under a blanket on a massage couch. If lying down is uncomfortable Reiki can be given semi-reclined or seated.

Each treatment is unique to the individual. Some people experience any of a range of sensations: heat, cold, tingling, involuntary muscle twitching, pain at the site of an old injury or colours. All of these should be regarded as a POSITIVE SIGN that Reiki is reaching the area where it is needed. Others simply experience deep relaxation.

How can Reiki help me?

Reiki works on all levels improving and maintaining mental, physical, emotional and spiritual well being. A natural, holistic and deeply relaxing experience, Reiki can benefit everyone – newborn babies, pregnant women, the elderly and terminally ill.

How will I feel after a treatment?

Most people find Reiki deeply relaxing, some are revitalised, others feel tired and some are emotional as part of the healing process.

Occasionally some people experience a headache, cold or flu-like symptoms all of which are of short duration and should be seen as a POSITIVE SIGN that unbalanced energy is being readjusted and that the healing process has begun.

Many people are surprised at the far reaching effect Reiki has on their lives. Reiki has to be experienced to be appreciated.
